About Andy Detskas

With more than a decade of experience under his belt, Andy possesses a deep and broad knowledge of interactive design and technology. A former producer and lead designer for Michigan State University's online learning and courseware efforts, his understanding of the university landscape gives him great insight in navigating the complexities of multiple audiences, messages and mandates.

While working at Michigan State University, Andy provided faculty mentoring and training to transition them into their 'digital life.' When MSU made the migration from a home-grown course management architecture to the ANGEL LMS, Andy was there to assist in the planning and development of faculty and student support resources as well as design assistance for online learning materials. He worked hands-on to ascertain the efficacy of many applications and tools such as podcasting, RSS, content management systems, WIKI's, flash-based learning objects, serious games, and Second Life.

Andy worked with the Old Town Commercial Association of Lansing, Michigan to redesign their website. The redesign effort integrated the latest in content management system technology, making it a snap for community leaders to update and create new content for the site.

Since his arrival in Chicago, Andy has worked in a boutique marketing agency, designing and developing marketing campaigns and web applications for the insurance industry.

Andy is an award-winning illustrator who has exhibited his work nationally. He holds a M.F.A. from Cranbrook Academy of Art and B.F.A. from Siena Heights University.
